A great range of things to do and see here throughout the year. Today we were visiting the cafe for some festive treats. The staff were helpful and the service was great as always, a lot of the food is locally sourced and cooked to such a high standard and the prices are really reasonable.Lovely to walk off you dinner in the gardens afterwards.
A Big Thank You to Ness Gardens for making my special visits this year the best ever, have seen so many lovely families with there children. A big thank you goes out to everyone, who set this up, Well DoneSanta xx
Don't think that the gardens are just for Spring and summer they are a real all year round treat. The season of mellow fruitfulness is upon us and a great place to spend 2/3 hours on the gently undulating paths , leading to hidden surprises. Take plenty of bird food with you at this time of year , you'll be thrilled at the variety and boldness of our feathered friends. I particularly like the area around the ponds with its well thought out and unobtrusive seating areas providing shelter if caught in the rain. Great overview of the gardens can be gained from the raised rockery area looking out to the Dee estuary. The area being used by the Liverpool university for climate and ecology studies is interesting . What about the children ? Great play areas with ride on tractors and trailers are provided at no extra charge . The children will love the chickens near the end of their walk. I haven't touched on the restaurant providing good food at reasonable prices , I believe the Sunday lunches are a not so well kept secret indeed many visitors go for the food alone . This place is well managed not over managed and deserves an unhurried visit.
The last time I visited this place, I was very disappointed with the cafe. After I had left the review, I was contacted by a member of staff thanking me for the review, and explaining how it would contribute to ongoing staff training. This training has obviously been effective. The service was when I went yesterday, it was like a different place. The service was excellent. There was a little wait for coffee but the staff apologised. They were very attentive to our needs. The coffee was excellent too. The gardens continue to be beautiful and well worth a visit.
A really beautiful place. Be prepared for a lot of walking and some hills. Every twist and turn brings amazing vistas with constant interest. The volume and varieties of plants is stunning. The gardens vary from natural rock gardens, to formal borders, with a water garden and a wildflower meadow. Down past the water garden is a woodland area packed with large stands of bamboo 20 foot tall that give the feel of walking through China. The visitor centre is very good (look at the green roof) and the restaurant is quality and with table service! In the garden centre is a good range of plants with reasonable prices for the quality. Allow a full day to visit all areas and pack a picnic. There are toilets and an ice cream kiosk in the lower garden as well as a picnic area and a chicken enclosure.
