Contacted this garage regarding an S2000 and specifically asked if the car was a UK Spec and not an import and was assured by email that it was a genuine UK car. After travelling to view it (4 hour round trip) I find that it's a Japanese Import. I was then told that this has no detriment to it's value??? If that is the case Hamlet Motors why do people go to the trouble of shipping a car half way around the world to pay the same price as a UK dealer supplied car?Updated 03/11/18In response to HMC reply. At no point have I said that I have visited other dealers to discover their vehicles are imports. I said that I would like an honest assessment of your vehicle as the two previous cars that I have travelled to see were in a condition that didn't really warrant the description in the sales adverts. I am by no means an S2000 expert, I have a knowledge of them and this will be my first one. You research is quite correct regarding the appearance difference between UK and Japanese Spec cars. However your vehicle masks this rather massive give away by it having fitted a UK specification rear bumper, number plate plinth and of course, rear fog lamp. Now if you'll forgive me, the other minor details that distinguish the two specs I failed to spot from a video and a few photos on my laptop. As I said in the phone call I received from you yesterday (when you tried to buy a better google review from me), you can't blame me for your error. You are the seller and you should know your stock. I asked a clear cut question and you answered it inaccurately. When I'm buying a new TV I trust the advice given by Currys is true and accurate, I don't expect to have to take the TV apart and check the specifications myself. You can value your cars however you wish, that is your decision. It doesn't mean that everyone will agree with you and hand over their money. I think given the fact you have not added the issue of the vehicle being an import to any of your listings speaks volumes.
